That, in itself, makes this unit worth the cost. This is enough to get through most power dips, spikes, and outages in our area, unless there's a severe storm, and at that rate, it's still enough time for the software to shut the rig down to prevent damage or data loss. The power conditioning seems to be fairly consistent, outputting a steady 116vac, no matter how hard I push this thing. The monitors / Logitech z5500s and Workforce40 printer are plugged into a separate, smaller UPS.For systems using 800W+ power supplies, you'll likely need to look at a higher VA/W rated UPS. A very well-priced power-conditioning UPS. I run a fairly high end rig:Intel E8500 3.16GHz oc'd to 3.8GHz8GB DDR2800 OCZRam3 WD Black 750GB HDD2 EVGA GTX260 core216 Graphics CardsLG Blu-Ray DVD + HP DVD-WriterThermaltake Tt 750W E80+ SLI Certified Power Supply.Under full load, this rig draws.405Kw which translates to about 9 minutes of backup time while at full draw. The 9 minutes of backup time under full load is just a bonus.I will say, however, the ONLY thing plugged into this unit is the computer itself.
I can't confirm that this device is the cause, but literally 10 minutes after hooking this up to the USB port on my Early 2009 Mac Pro (and UPS monitoring appeared to work) all my USB ports stopped working. Not looking forward to returning this, or bringing my Mac Pro to the Apple Store but I guess I have to do both. I can't confirm for certain, but after hooking this up to my Mac Pro none of the USB ports worked anymore. Oh, just went in my office and my speakers, plugged into the UPS also, were humming like crazy even though the computer was off.
They match like they were made at the same factory. I give it five stars for looks, functionality, and intelligent design. It looks wonderful next to my new computer. Not only does it look real good but it seems to work well too.
So far there is nothing I don't like about this unit. I DO recommend it for anyone who has expensive equipment they need to protect. I have not experienced any power outages or lightening strikes yet, but I know I'm protected if I do. But now I feel comfortable even working through the worst storm because I know I am protected. I had a huge project with fast approaching deadline and we were having one major storm after another. Cyberpower CP1500AVRLCD UPS - LCD Display 1500VA/900W AVR 8-Outlet RJ11/RJ45/Coax Tower USB I live where there are lots of electrical storms. Before I purchased my Cyberpower CP1500 UPS, I would have turned my system off and unplugged it from the wall till the storm was over - - even though I had a fairly decent surge suppressor. I can't tell you how secure I feel with my brand new expensive workstation being well protected with this UPS.
Found the Cyberpower CP1500AVLCD on Amazon for a decent price.Shipping was fast even though I picked standard delivery. Has not failed me through several power outages already although I bought it just a few short weeks ago. Power in our area is unreliable and I have a saltwater fish tank, so I wanted to make sure that the pumps and heaters continue after a power outage. The LCD readout is clear and sharp with lots of info screens to monitor the whole shooting match.
